@wahaya2 I can see the 747-8 Intercontinental as being a better replacement. The engines are newer, the plane is bigger and more efficient, the crew would already be well equipped to use it since its just an elongation and update to the 747-4. And it makes more economical sense for the Government, Boeing and even EADS (as you already stated). Honestly though, the current Air force Ones are doing just fine and they can probably skip the current gen and wait for another gen of aricraft.

Put the US President in a Cessna. Or fly him scheduled. Times are tough. Why does he need a flying palace? If the security on a standard airliner is good enough for the rest of us then why is it not good enough for the President? Unless the airlines are being cavalier with our safety?

@MasterLouisSG the prime minister of the UK should fly a Concorde imo.

I like the concept, excellent work

@AMITZpaintball I get that, but from a purely practical point of view and putting aside all patriotic considerations, you'd have to say the A380 is the best plane currently flying for the job of replacing the current Air Force One... It's much quieter, can land pretty much anywhere a 747 can, has huge amounts of space for electronics and the like.... in short they really have built one hell of a plane in the A380.

@bvestationfan A four-engine mod for a 787 would be CATASTROPHICALLY expensive, you'd basically need a whole new wing, plus enlarging it, you're basically just building a whole new aircraft there.
-
@nickelfilling1 Incorrect - they did invite Airbus to tender, or to bid for the contract. EADS, the parent company, declined on the basis that, for all the modifications needed to the aircraft to change it from your regular A380 into an Air Force One replacement, they'd have to basically assemble it in the US, where they don't have any pre-existing plants, and for only three planes it just wasn't economical.

lol thats funny

@Ravenwing3000 You dumbfuck, the double-dots above vowels don't exist in the English language. So EVERY English speaking country writes an "e" after. Same in England and Australia. Dumbshit, that's not an American thing. Besides, that German guy came to AMERICA, so he's AMERICAN. Everyone in the US came from somewhere else. Go back to school and get an education you worthless close minded piece of shit.

Boeing was never, ever more reliable than Airbus. I think you just wrote that from the top of your head. Look at the safety records. Example: a320 family came out in 1987, while the 737 NG game out it 1997. The a320's still have a better safety record.
Yes, it is USA's pride as Boeing is manufactured in the USA but Airbus, like it or not, is much more reliable because it is more computer based, while Boeing planes are more prone to human error which is the primary cause of crashes
hehe, boeing is, shit, but the most american idiots forgot that boeing was founded by an german, the original name was Böing, but americans are so stupid that they wrote his name like this: Boeing

No, Air Force One must stay american. But the A380 should be for the future president of the European Union.
