I got the copy of the new HDV products promotion DVD. This video is showing the general information of them. The video about other features and the CF memory recording unit is uploaded.
It seems like there's a lot of confusion about why these cameras still have a tape. Frankly, if you shoot a lot of HD Video, archiving the footage can be a problem due to the extremely large files sizes. Many professionals prefer to archive their original footage on tape. These cameras allow recording to tape and/or Compact Flash cards. You can also record HD to tape, and SD to the flash card simultaneously. Both MiniDV and Compact Flash cards are widely availability on the road.
but i still say that there is no comparision between TAPE recording and HD recording. I think professional cams must have HD recording option + Tape os SDcard.
Thats the marketing trick of these product companies :)
Well, You can't say that during Data trnsferr there is no DATA loss (from tape to computer).
Definately there's a loss because when you transferr and save your data through VTR to computer, it save the Footages in AVI. format, and when you take that Data to NLE , that would be another loss. (You know "final production")
@salimudassir Recording to tape is a save option but i admid tthat capturing video from tape to you pc is a time consuming. With the most new generation professional cams( Like sony hvr Z7) you can record on tape and on SD or Prostick @ the same time. You can use the tape as a back up and import the video on your sd card directly to your computer wich can save you a lot of time if you shoot in the right mode.
@salimudassir@salimudassir You won't find any professional cams with harddisk. That's a future seen by consumer cams. You simply can not take the risk that the harddisk can crash with important data on it. + how will you record when recording to a harddisk is your only option.
Because hard drives break. A good camera should last at least 10 years, a standard hard drive lasts about 3, and thats not even the micro drives they would use.
Compact flash is much more reliable, especially with a camera that gets jostled, etc. Also, the data is transferred from the compact flash or tape to computer without loss of quality due to digital signal (digital does not lose quality unless it is down-converted, in which case blame your non-linear editor).
why arent these on the sony site

But in case of HD, It transferr the Data in "mt2" format, Than you can take that format to your NLE and than final production in AVI.
I hope you will agree that "mt2" format is far better and rich than AVI.
it has a great resolution 1080i or 1080p.
What do you say?????
