Carrera para la posteridad, otro gran duelo entre Kevin Schwantz y Wayne Rainey. Recital de frenadas de Schwantz antes de la chicane y tres ultimas vueltas impresionantes. La epoca dorada del motociclismo.

  • this race is one of many why Kevin schwantz was a popular GP500 racer, and brought Suzuk and his sponsors mucho dinero. He did the unexpected when you it wasnt expected!

With the bikes (MotoGP) as they currently are, none of the riders would be able to finish a race without the advanced electronics that they have now, they'd just run out of fuel. Good ol' King Kenny I believe said that the current 800cc bikes are unrideable without them after he himself took a ride on an M1 Yam. It's clear that electronics have been too important in the current formula.

There seriously needs to be a different mindset in technical regs, more man and no electronics.

  • @hismindovermatter Good point about the different bikes having different characteristics.

And I wouldn't mind a return to 2 stroke; I grew up racing motocross, so the sound of a 2 stroke still does it for me. :) What I'd REALLY like to see, however, is an end to traction control. Wayne Rainey could teach these youngsters a thing or two about throttle control, I'm willing to bet. :)

I don't know, I mean the Suzuki seemed to have better front-end braking than the Yam or Honda. It's probably wise to not make direct comparisons since Wayne, Kevin and Mick were all on different machines.. different beasts with different strengths and weaknesses.

Wish we could get times like this back though. Pure 2-stroke.
