Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation -- Information through an interview.

The Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation of USA is a charitable organization that initiates, supports, and runs approximately 27,000 non-formal one-teacher schools all over India. The Ekal Vidyalaya volunteers are work-ing against all odds to eradicate illiteracy, improve hygiene, health, economic conditions, and also preserve the culture of these villagers. Today, this has become the largest non-governmental program in India . The goal is to build 100,000 schools in the tribal areas by the year 2013 and carry out the message of Swami Vivekanada If children cannot go to education, education should go to them . Please help us achieve this goal by sponsoring as many schools as possible with a tax deductible donation of just $ 1 per day per school (i.e. $365/year/school).
