Does anyone have any experience with this problem (or one like it) with a DLP tv/projector? The lamp and DMD board are both new on the set. It is model HLP4674wx. I have pulled out the color wheel and did notice a small break/nick in the power cable where it bends as it leaves the housing. I have pictures of this as well as the color wheel if anyone can help. Thanks

  • Yeah its unfortunate. About 5 months after I replaced the colorwheel it went out again. Replaced again (80 bucks) and its working again. Probably the last time I will replace it.

  • Just FYI for anyone with a similar problem. I was the color wheel. I replaced it and it has worked fine ever since. Thanks for the comment umbrefawx.

  • @kungjew77 I would be thinking it's rubbing the casing or something if it broke that soon again. That or you could of just got a bad color wheel.

  • i think all new technology with regards to tv weregood but it wont last long for lets say 10 years. the reason is marketing strategy. imagine, the unit were too expensive and when it busted the repair parts were so limited and ofcorse the cost is too high too.its really nice to go back in basic(CRT TV) because mine is 12 years now and it repair only once just in power supply.

  • Samsung DLP's are garbage - in the 3 years period that I have owned one, I've taken it in for repairs twice for a circuit board swap and the bulb had to be replaced 3 times!!!!!! I wish I had gotten a plasma or an lcd, the dlp's use too many mechanical parts, although the image clarity is phenomenal, except for contrast ratio, which is pretty bad.

  • Just a question for folks... how safe is it to open a DLP screen? I'm meeting some really sinister looking capacitors when I open it up. How long should I wait before even touching the inside (after unplugging it). I'm just afraid I'm gonna kill myself :P Otherwise I have no beef with unscrewing things and putting them aside.

  • yeah that is you colorwheel

  • I had a bad color wheel with my Samsung DLP just recently. Except mine would keep turning itself off. I managed to turn it back on again, but after a month and a half of putting up with it, it eventually turned off and wouldn't turn back on. So I had it fixed. Since this post is about two months old I'm assuming you had yours fixed already.
