A short part from a very good kenpo video featuring Larry Tatum. I wouldn't like to be that guy in red suit lol ******* Un pequeño fragmento de un video muy bueno de Kenpo por Larry Tatum. No me gustaría ser el tio del traje rojo xD
@clearcombat Every kenpo school I have ever seen spars. Not sure what you are talking about here. And Kenpo has numerous self defense techniques. I am not saying ALL kenpoist can defend themselves. Some people "freeze up" when assaulted, but with proper training most can overcome this.
@streen41 sure man. It is good to learn the technique, but you must learn to use it in a situation as real as posible, maybe sparring with partners, and by being really carefull not to be hurt bad.
@DrummermanMatt Don't know if anyone's answered your question, but I've heard that Mr. Parker's teacher, William Chow, was student under Kosho-Ryu master James Mitose. In fact, virtually all Kempo schools outside of Japan trace their lineage to Mitose Sensei...whether it's all true or not is another story. Hope that helps.
I studied EP's kenpo for a few years...many of the core essence of the techniques you learn are effective, but each technique has way to many movements for the real world. Each technique should have the number of movements reduced for greater effectiveness in real world self defense.

@cabrame or you could choose which ones fit for which situations. You dont have to do all of the movements, only what is necessary.

@shadjazz In Kenpo they do give a false sense of security. Very few spar, even fewer can defend themselves.
