@thatman64 You've seen it done? Thats nice. I spent a little over three years treaching this as part of the air assaut course. Its possible my perspective is different than that of a spectator.

@zer0dahero I can imagine doing this with all your gear would be interesting, to say the least, but spare a thought for those that do it without pinching the rope with their feet. I've seen it done in a demonstration here in the UK, they said it was special forces, but maybe it could have been the RAF Regiment even though the last I heard was that fastroping was limited to UKSF over here. Carrying the same amount of gear and only using hands to brake, because ropes get oily from boot polish.

Prime example why proper training is important. There's no real safety when fast roping.

fail. haha good thing hes ok tho.

they could use this as a training video.

@reodk no its not hard

he was trying do it like the brits with the feet of the rope but he wasnt good enough

I dont get huh this is funny...that looks difficult especially with the weight on ur back.
@Lintassimilator Fact is, no one is ever done training, ever. Have you ever fast roped? Imagine trapping a 45lb plate to your back and a couple of 20lb dumbells to your hips and stepping out to the edge of a 5 or 6 story bldg, reaching and grabbing a rope, pinching it with your feet, and do a control fall. Try it yourself first, then you can see how easy a mistake can happen.
