The monstrance which is used to carry the Blessed Sacrament is one of six that were blessed by Pope John II before his death to mark the celebration of the Year of the Eucharist. "God In The Streets of New York City" depicts the contrast between the everyday chaos of the busy streets -- complete with traffic, construction and police cars -- and the peaceful presence of Jesus. There is always an opportunity to meet Jesus face to face. It poses the question: Will you recognize him?

In the epic Film "On The Waterfront"(1954), the Catholic priest(Karl Malden) evolves! At first he says to a grieving 'Eva Marie Saint', "If you need me, come to the Rectory." After a longshoreman is murdered in the hold of a cargo ship, this Catholic priest, in the face of many telling him to go back to his church, gives a powerful sermon that his place is among the people, as he shouts, "This is my church!" To meet people in Malls, etc, may afford someone the only time to speak to a priest.

So beautiful. Nothing like a procession. This is real evangelization.

Often our liturgies are without apparent merit. I have been embarrassed to bring a friend to one of these. Now with our new Bishop, things are improving, but the sermon doesn't seem to relate to the readings :(

I remember celebrating 40 Hours Devotion, the procession around the church. I literally shuddered at the immensity of God's Gift! Our true worship!
