First test of HD with the new ZS3 by Panasonic.
Model TZ7 for Europe.
The stands are insanely packed.
I stayed just long enough in front row reserved to capture a tire pit stop.
Best spot was top of hill at apex of turn 2-3.
Track fencing is tough to deal with for clear view.
The ESPN TV camera operator in close-up was with 300mm f2.8, from the same position on the hill.
He's on the blue crane boom in video wide shot.
His monitor shows the cars close up, but I forgot about the speed of shutter to capture the full scan of monitor.
I'll get it right next time.
The tune is from Playstation Gran Turismo, 'My Favorite Game', by the Cardigans.
Iowa Speedway is a nice track and facility.
Designed by Rusty Wallace. 7/8 mile Tri-Oval.
I dearly thank 'Christy' of the track staff that assisted with the 4x4 transport of myself and 30lbs of camera gear.
Select HD when viewing.
I used iMovie 9 on the MacPro, and learned along the way.
Race Results-
Brad Keselowski, driving the GoDaddy.com Chevrolet owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr., won the race after a fierce battle with series points leader Kyle Busch and delighted the standing-room-only crowd.
Busch drove the Pizza Ranch Toyota for car owner Joe Gibbs.
Third was Jason Leffler in a Toyota, Carl Edwards finished fourth in a Ford and Kelly Bires was fifth, driving a Toyota.
Cheers.
I sooooo want to go there sometime. I live in Iowa but never can afford or have the time off to go to them races.

Yea, It's crazy noisy fun. I'm sure you will get there. Lots of people camp there as well.
So grab a couple friends, some ear plugs, and have fun, if you don't mind packed in like sardines.
As you can see, I left the stands to get other views of the track.
Cheers

Great job on the video.
It really looks professionally done.
Excellent!

Thanks, but the $400 ZS3 takes all the credit.
He pulled off a tough event freehand.
Bright sun is a challenge (on rear screen).
Holding it over your head and us older punks needing reading glasses to see details.
Seeing it in HD on 23" Cinema Display, blows me away from the old mini dv video gear I have.
Fail at iMovie for hours. But get the hang of it eventually.
I'm sure some that know what they are doing could really pull off impressive good stuff with this camera.
Cheers
