This is a second test I did using my Canon HV30, shot all in slow motion. This took an hour to film and 3 hours to edit, find the music and render.

Shot in 60i Tv mode, 1/2000 shutter using "Custom" Image Effect set to -1 Colour Depth and -1 Contrast.

Edited with Sony Vegas Pro 8.

Colour corrected with Magic Bullet Looks and slightly increased contrast and brightness in Sony Vegas Pro 8.

Music Used:

"Daybreak" by Kevin MacLeod at www.incompetech.com

Note: Outdoors, I ALWAYS set the exposure to -2 so that the auto exposure doesn't "kick in", but indoors I use the photo button trick to lock exposure when it sets to f2.0 and drop it down to the lowest f1.8 possible to avoid that annoying, and stupid gain.

I know this isn't pro, but this is my second time using the camera and I have lots to learn.

Advice would be really appreciated.

  • does that mean it's a setting on your camcorder then??

  • Its not really a setting than more of a piece. I set my camera to manual focus isntead of automatic and i focus using the cameras focus ring.

  • great vid! how do you acheive the depth of field effect at 1:38?

    thanks :)

  • Manual focus.

  • Shot At :51 Looks Very Nice.

  • Looks good

  • witch settings did you rendering???

  • Does anyone know if theres any difference from Shooting in 1080i on (for example) Sony FX1 and slowing down speed in editing?

  • Great movie to watch in theaters but if you can't make it you can always see him online @ 123 hq movies. com

  • do you use extra lens?

  • Very nice!! I've watched this quite a few times. As I too am an hv30, I've recently gotten much inspiration from you and others who are far ahead of me. I like what I see of Sony Vegas (bucks) and will likely invest in early '10. Thanks for the encouragement.

  • WOW absolutely stunning quality

    5 Stars from me ;) *****

  • in editng what waz the technique you used to manipulate it after shooting it
