JT is one of the most underrated bass players ever. He owes everything to Bernard Edwards of course, but some of John's bass lines were terrific. This - the bass break in the middle of Rio - is probably my favourite of all. Raw, melodic, influential and just downright gorgeous. What a tone, and listen to those triplets! Someone once tried to tell me that Duran were just a 'Boy Band', I told em that next time they see Jason Orange, ask him to play this!
