Another segment for the "Experiments in Editing" film I'm working on. This time, I took footage from the 1940s Encyclopedia Britannica short on sound recording and reproduction for movies. The ending is a nifty visual of Saint-Saens' Danse Macabre via variable densisty and bilateral soundtracks.

For my edit, I have isolated the soundtrack. Then, I added color tints and re-arranged them. My main inspiration is the Norman McLaren short "Synchromy" which you can see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hl5dbc3yKw

Anyways, this is mainly just my first try at the visuals. The first half is mostly how it'll end up, but the second half is very rough. I'm using Sony Vegas entirely.

Here is the original short: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2ilHhJspi8
(It's the last 2 minutes roughly)
