The icy distance between Armenia and Turkey is beginning to thaw. For one, the newly elected Armenian President Sarkissjan invited his Turkish counterpart to Erivan for a soccer world championship qualification match. Then, this summer saw diplomats from the two countries meet several times. As a sign of good will, Ankara replaced the head of the state Turkish Historical Society. The former head was vehemently opposed to acknowledging that the killing of Armenians in 1915 and 1916 was genocide. After the war in August between Russia and Georgia, Turkey now wants to found a Caucasus Stability and Cooperation Platform and to include the Armenians.

  • I wonder what was their reaction from the genocide museum (seeing the other side of the story)

  • It's about time we become friends. Genocide recognition is vital to us and we will never stop the struggle for recognition. Turkish people are not to blame, their government prohibits any teaching about Armenian Genocide. If you haven't been taught, how can you know ? And if you don't know, why would you accept it ?

  • @bbphnix You don't know anything about history, do you? Poor you.

  • @mattdogan wow, such bastards the Armenians, fighting against the conquering ottomans (I'm being sarcastic);

    the ottomans shouldn't have invaded other peoples in the first place; the armenians fighting against them is only natural; who wouldn't fight invaders and oppressors? the fact that the ottomans added insult to injury by considering ethnic cleansing as a way to deal with the armenians once and for all is inexcusable;

  • @bbphnix Ok, let me explain.Armenian problem was started by Armenians. The killings of officials and innocents, joining the enemy among other acts pushed the Empire which was fighting on many fronts to the breaking point . Imagine the same situation with any other failing empire struggling to save itself would have taken any measures necessary even today, in this century. This was a century ago. Nations were more driven with land and nationalist values. Armenia started, Turks finished it.

  • @MrStrawhatlegend Maybe Turks will take you more seriously if you dont photoshop well-known images to the Turkish society.

  • @laguys818 If you are talking about many fabricated images and documents Armenia has come up with ( how embarrassing ), I think the world has seen it all.

  • @hayastan44 I havent laughed this hard i a long time. Turkey's border was drawn in 1922-1923. When was Armenia's again? Who the hell is Armenia to discuss Turkish borders? Is this a joke? It must be, because we are laughing. ;)

  • @bbphnix What i can't understand is that despite the undeniable evidence pointing to the massacre, why do the Turks still deny it?

  • @afaresis okay explain to me why you think the 1915 genocide wasn't really a genocide.? lots of Armenians were forced into marches , supposedly to relocate the Armenians - which is a form of ethnic cleansing and is just as evil - but the marches were ENGINEERED in such a way as to ensure the death of as many of the armenians as possible; explain that;

    is it because the armenians were rebelling against the Ottomans? there; a diff between crushing a revolt and genocide...
