At first I thought that was FATE, then I thought it was Diablo III.. But it's the transmutation of FATE and Diablo.

Both the people who made Diablo, and the people who made Fate were involved in this game.
Not a bis surprise it resembles both.

Torchlight is made by some of the people who made Diablo 2. They left Blizzard to make their own company, and torchlight is their first business venture.
In short, it is EXACTLY like Diablo 2.
