@wizeman5974 Also, two years earlier, his traveling call against ISU in the Elite Eight allowed Bobby Heaton to hit a hook shot at the buzzer.

@vaibanez17 ESPN did a Top 10 NCAA Tournament Buzzer Beaters awhile back and had this game at #3. Even as a Louisville, it should get more buzz. It was a great shot and I have another video of this game's ending on NBC and it shows the clock as he shoots and while there were no "tenths" on the clock yet, I reviewed it and it looks like US Reed got the shoot off with less than a second to go. Broke my heart to see how Louisville lost, but hey, give credit were credit is due, great shot by Reed.

Yes it was paul and Rick

HoginMemphis, I hate to tell you but you're 100% incorrect. It was Paul Eells and Rick Schaeffer. Paul did basketball for the first few years after he came to Little Rock. His first season here was 1978-79.

@jekoch21 Sometimes I see "Top 10 buzzer beaters" college videos and this isn't on there and I wonder why it doesn't get much buzz. This is a legendary shot not just to Arkansas but in NCAA history

Anything about louisville losing is OK in my book! :D

Nope. It was Mike Nail with the call and Rick Shaeffer on the color commentary. And I'm 100% positive. I was in college at U of A at the time of this game. I'll never forget that game in 2nd round of NCAAT.

@tboneshuffle You are right tbone! I'm almost positive it's Paul & Rick Shaeffer. I remember it well!

Was at this game with my Dad. We were rooting for UA and the rest was for UL. But the place went wild when Reed hit that shot. IIRC, that was a crazy weekend of buzzer-beaters in the tourney.
This shot ripped my heart out. Louisville had played poorly and had fought like hell to get in front and then US Reed dribbles no where and hits a miracle at the buzzer. What a way to lose, he hit a heckuva a shot.

Unbelievable video - I was in the stands at the "Drum" during this game & have never seen the video since - When U.S. hit the shot the whole place erupted like nothing I've ever seen - it was the most deafening noise you can imagine - unbelievable- i grabbed the lady next to me (who I did not know) in a hug & started swinging her around in circles - I've never forgotten it - thanks again for putting this up
