It was a historic day on Friday 9th July 2010 for all Benedictines when the new swimming pool was ceremonially opened by Old Ben Jeyam Perumal. The 25 metre six lane swimming pool gifted to the college by the members of the Global Benedictine family and well wishers will be named after Rev. Bro. Granville Perera the dynamic and charismatic Director of the school in appreciation of all the hard work and commitment he has rendered to uplift the overall standard of the school during the last few years. Under his leadership, the school has gone from strength to strength producing excellent academic and extra curricular results.
The new facility named "Bro. Granville Perera Aquatic Centre" wasl certainly be a tremendous boost for the students as well as the image of the school. We are ever grateful to the Project Committee headed by Old Ben Jeyam Perumal who worked day and night to make the project a reality in record time. We are also grateful to all the donors who rallied round in true Benedictine spirit to generously donate towards the success of the project. Under this project a complete new face-lift was also given to the school with a new statue of Sacred Heart of Jesus and a grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes placed on either side of the new circular steps at the Quadrangle.
The days' proceedings was begun with a Thanksgiving Holy Mass concelebrated by Old Benedictine Priests and blessing of the new statues. It was followed by the opening of the swimming pool complex by Chief Guest Old Ben Jeyam Perumal, Chairman of the Project Committee. Another significant item in the pro gramme was the 3 items performed by the Benedictine Swimmers in the new pool. The days' proceedings was concluded with a variety show presented by the students at the new Open Air Stage.
