  • As Gore says "we are borrowing money to buy oil from abroad to burn it in ways that destroy the planet. Every bit of that's got to change." Is it really so hard to understand???

Wake up America! demand real solutions from the politicians not just sound bites telling us we can have whatever we want at little cost. For the last 30 years we have had it easy, now we're going to have to work real hard to avoid becoming a third world country.

  • Where on earth did you ever learn of this "fact"? A Palin speech?

If Alaska has so much oil, why is the US importing 2/3 of it's oil? If your statement were anything close to reality, the Big Oil companies would all be in there, drilling the shit out of Alaska. And check the reserve estimates for Alaska before saying the "greenies" are keeping America from getting all it's oil from there.

  • I'm getting a camel

  • The leaders that know the severity of our impending consequence has sheltered our eyes from the truth and told us everything will be fine [if you elect me]. Not too differently than a parent would tell their child. The truth is we should have been restructuring our adolescent, severely-flawed consumer-based infrastructure back into a self-sustaining one like practiced for almost all humanity.

The positive-side is we've gained new technology that would have never been conceived in 10 stone ages.

  • Yeah, not to mention that we might tone down some of the fat arse's that are getting fater by the year. Australia's infastructure for bikes is woeful, go to europe and you would be blown away at how right they've got it. not to mention how nice it is to go for a ride.

  • Why are Americans so addicted to car travel?

There is an answer and it is a four fold one:-

Firstly develop an effective electric passenger train network.

Secondly, hault the sprawl, and give up the idea of living far away from everything in a McMansion.

    Thirdly, stop driving so often.

Fourthly, See the common bicycle as a good means of short distance travel.

I dont know why Americans, and we Australians have such a car culture, and that is something that will have to end!

  • Funny, I commte by bicycle and even though there are greenways half of my commute, the city of Golden Valley, MN will NOT plow the snow off it. Froreing people to burn oil that would other wise burn fat. America is to blame for all its problems and nothing will ever change..

  • i agree, but i don't think its the "greenies" that are keeping us from getting it.

  • Watch "A Crude Awakening!"

It's a better video and more scary.

  • Helium3 is bs.

You're talking about going to the Moon ffs for something that nobody has figured out how to use. Even if you handed them a big bag of it tomorrow morning, we are 30yrs from a reactor and YOU want to spend billions now only to find a) making a Helium3 reactor might not even be viable, b) there might be something else cheaper and better closer to home or c) the Russians have better space technology and the usa swaps Saudi oil for Russian Helium3!

    LOL

  • Helium 3 , thats the solution , helium 3 makes space travel worth while. Now if we'd just get our acts together and get this space prospecting idea off the ground , we might just avoid this future. Im in favour of an international effort bleeding tax from everyones energy bill worldwide to pump it into an international space agency. It might put the price up by 10% now but thats better than 1000% energy inflation in 20 years.

  • Why do you americans call petrol gas lol. Please dont call it that , especially in energy related programmes , it just mixes everything up. What is so hard about saying its real name? Gas is natural gas which is another energy source entirely , your "gas" stations dont give you it in gas form , so why are you still calling it gas. I assume that it probably got something to do with gas being the dominant form of fuel a hundred years ago but thats barely an excuse :P
