Actually the acoustic part starting at 2:38 is played on an acoustic live version of the song.

They originally created "Normal" for the FOABP album, but Steven thought it didn't really fit the album, so they made "Sentimental" and used the same chorus.

Sometimes you make a song to complement another, to give the history some continuity.

@mjzl The song appeared on their EP, Nil Recurring. It is 7 minutes long, with heavier parts in the beginning, middle and end. This version is the radio edit, cut down to just the softer parts.
