Riding the EXTREMELY NICE hydraulic elevator. This elevator is UNTOUCHED and is a treasure. Unfortunately, I went to the bank today, and I could not find an elevator that I would have access to. Guess what? This elevator is a Dover! That's right, DOVER! Security Elevator Company is a 3rd Party Company under Dover! This elevator is small, but runs very nicely. I was afraid to move too much in the elevator, because I thought I would stall it! Notice the small cab, small capacity and the gorgeous fixtures, only updated with a phone. I will most defiantly visit this elevator again. Listen carefully to the relays. The motor is very quiet, so you have to listen carefully. Somebody also had the nerve to steal the rescue key! Also, look at the vintage air conditioner, the strange light switch and the alarm bell OUTSIDE of the elevator. This elevator has the old "In Use" indicator, but its burnt out! :(

Long Beach Island keeps their elevators in mint condition! My 100th video (next video, because this is 99, yay!) will be a double-feature, so stay tuned!

  • I gather this is NJ's Long Beach, not ours?

  • Good old New Jersey!

  • Should've known since there's a Security Dover in Freehold Raceway Mall.

  • IMPULSE! There is a Security Impulse on the island too, but I think black GAL is a bit more epic! :)

  • Very nice early 1960's elevator. I love the rubber bumper as that particular bumper had the sensors built into the bumper itself. The retraction of the bumper itself will not open the elevator door. Only pressing in on the rubber part presses metal rods inside to contact a sensor. VERY NICE !!!!!!!!

  • The bumper is nice indeed, and this might even be from the 40's or 50's.

  • Strange how the machine room is on the other side of the room from the lift.

  • Thats amazing how smooth it runs! I love it!

  • Yeah the black GAL is way better than crappy Impulse

  • IT WAS EMPTY! It was so cool! I was the only one there! I was pressed against the corner so I could get the cab view.

  • It looks pretty ADA compliant, but hopefully they will keep it. You have to keep in mind that the island's season is only 3 months, so its not like the elevator gets a lot of use anyway! It also leads up to an insurance company.
