Here are the songs "Georgia on my mind" and "Through the Years", originally done by my favorite vocal group of all-time The Hi-Lo's, who were a pioneer group from the 50's and 60's. Both are songs arranged by Hi-Lo's member and legend, Gene Puerling. Sung by (from l to r): Steve DeCrow, Arjun Chandy, Jeff Oxley, David Webb

  • i am desperately trying to find the name of the arranger of through the years, any help?

  • @RealityCek Gene Puerling.... founder of the group that sang Through the Years, called The Hi-Lo's....also founder of vocal mixed group from 70's The Singers Unlimited

  • Marcus, thank you so much for the upload! As you probably know, Jeff Oxley was the bass for Acoustix and is the current bass of Max Q, the latter's latest CD containing several "Puerlingesque" tracks. I think Jeff loves to sing Puerling arrangements. You can find five-part tags of "Georgia" and "Lazy Afternoon" (Puerling's arrangements with added bassline) here on YouTube as performed by a quintet of barbershoppers, two from Vocal Spectrum, two from Max Q, and one from Crossroads/4 Voices.

  • @HiLoMiddle Hey man, Jeff is great for sure (i posted this btw not Marcus)..... I sing with these guys in a group called The Vocal Majority.

  • Thanks for sharing !!! It's great to see some really good singers singing some "hi-lo's" live =) You can check my cover of "Black Is the Color" I did a while back in multitrack...

  • @musictime247 It's timeless.

If I may, I think one of the hippest, yet unknown things Gene did was an arrangement of "There's No You," from Now Hear This. It's so sublime that it is genius. In fact, I think it's their best album.

If you're interested in a chart, I'd be happy to send you one.

  • @mharbaugh Thanks man! I can safely say that this stuff never gets old to listen to or sing. This version of Georgia is probably my favorite arrangement of that song, of course done by Puerling.
