Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers responding to a mutual assist call in Wyandot County Thursday evening crashed into a ditch. The single-vehicle crash killed one trooper and injured the other state trooper.

The accident took place at Township Highway 95 near Township Highway 27 / Brown Road southwest of the Village of Carey at around 6:20 p.m.

Killed in the crash was 25-year-old Andrew Baldrich, who had graduated in December 2009 from the state academy. Trooper Baldrich is a Carey High School graduate.

An air ambulance was dispatched and transferred the injured state trooper to Mercy St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo.

The injured state trooper's condition is unknown.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
