26th January 1950 is one of the most important days in Indian history, as the country became a truly sovereign state. The day has been recognized and celebrated as the Republic Day of India.
However, people of Kashmir observe the republic day of world's biggest democracy as a black day, following the ideology that India has forcibly occupied the Himalayan region, ever since.
While the Indian nation celebrates the occasion with national holiday, the streets of Kashmir are deserted; hardly any civilian movement is visible, as most of the people prefer to stay indoors with shops and businesses on halt as a mark of protest against Indian rule. On the other side, the authorities impose deliberate restrictions on movement of people fearing the eruption of anti-India sentiments that are already high in the Muslim dominated region and due to scare of attacks at the sites where Indian flags are hoisted in the region.
However, several locals and government officials attended the major flag hoisting ceremony held at Srinagar's Bakshi stadium.
While people of Kashmir demand independence from India, India has time and time again reiterated that Kashmir is its integral part and has not allowed any international interference calling it an internal issue.
UN has issued 18 resolutions over Kashmir since 1948 but so far India and Pakistan have not reached consensus over the issue, and has fought twice over the Himalayan territory. Since 1989, Kashmir has been in the grip of unrest which has resulted into killings of nearly 50000 people according to official records.
At present valley region seems calm and its presumed peace has returned, however experts say Kashmir has always been unpredictable and only a proper resolution can bring long lasting peace to this region.
Article 370 is imposed over J&K that insures that demographic doesn't change. we indians can't settle there, while this is not the case with kashmiris, they hold privilege, they can settle anywhere in india.
muslim kashmiri never talk about exodus of 4 lakh kashmiri pandits, by their fellow jihadi brothers. why so?

anit-indian propaganda :x why the hell video doesn't talk about pak's attack on yet to decide princely state of J&K? India came later in the scene when, pathan tribals plundered kasmiris, in so called POK. the king of the state requested india to help him, and signed instrument of accession with certain condition i.e state would have it's own constitution, flag etc. india would only look into defense matters only. this status is still granted to kashiris, but pro-pak kashmiris always cry.
