How to install HSPL (HardSPL) to the HTC HD2 (Leo)

[NOTE: PLEASE GO INTO YOUR BOOTLOADER BEFORE INSTALLING HSPL AND MAKE SURE YOUR CURRENT SPL IS 1.42.0000, IF IT IS NOT, THE INSTILLATION WILL FAIL!]

[Please make sure your phone has at least 50% battery life, but the more the better. Also its always a good idea to remove your SIM card before doing this kind of thing]

Yes it's important to connect using Windows Mobile Center or in older Windows XP use ActiveSync

I can't enter the bootloader mode. I had this problem once before but after trying dozends of times i finally got there, but i don't remember which SPL i had and now im having the same issue, can't enter to bootloader.. This is pulling me crazy :/ Im trying to flash a new rom to get my usb connection hopefully working..

sorry am a bit confused because i have never had a windows phone before, am recieving my hd2 in a few days I was wondering do I have to do any sort of rooting or anything before I can install this hardspl or this is something i can apply to the phone straight out of the box? your answers are much appriciated. many thanks.

just to clarify, hsple2 works with spl 2.08.0000?

Also, after my phone is connected, it reboots to the boot loader screen, but it fails to connect to the usb and says "CRITICAL ERROR FLOW : 00000001 ERROR CODE 00000002 Description : USB Connect failed!" does anyone know whats wrong? I've tried many times and always the same thing happens. any help would be great ! :)
