    He did NOT "detest the rich and popular". He hated their actions, not their souls. The poor were the ones who weren't all prideful, which is why Jesus lived with them and served them.

    Serving God isn't about being cool. This song is describing true ministry at it's best. Jesus hanged out with the poor and needy, he detested the rich and popular.

    Makes you wonder what we are meant to do.
