Diddy Kong Racing Walkthrough Pt 37: Vs. Bubbler the Octopus (2nd time)

Aside from the Wizpig races, this is the hardest boss race in the game. Bubbler is a little past faster than he was the first time, however his most lethal change is the fact that he drops bubbles instead of mines, and LOTS of them. Bubbles stop you to a complete halt for about 3 seconds (in other words, if you run into one, restart the race). Passing Bubbler is quite difficult since he drops bubbles so often.

At the start, DO NOT get a super boost. Get the normal boost (yellow). If you use a Super Boost you'll get in front of him, but he'll just trap you in a bubble. The normal boost keeps you behind him, but you're safe from bubbles. Stay behind him for the majority of the first lap, but not too far back. Grab the blue balloons I get and fire them off when it is safe. Pass him in the same way you did in the first race: in the final stretch, pick up two red balloons and fire the Homing Missile. If you're close, you'll pass by him easily (and while Bubbler is stunned for those few moments, he won't drop bubbles). Once you pass him he most likely won't overtake you unless you run into walls. Use the blue balloons to increase your lead.

He'll hand over the third piece of the Wizpig Amulet. Only one more to go! Up next is the battle game for Sherbet Island, then the Trophy Race.

Toughest boss yet! I'm using Diddy, but I keep losing to him every time I use that monkey. Is the turtle recommended to be used for this boss race or did you just use him?

I highly recommend Tiptup for all boss races. He is the fastest racer in the game with great handling (minus T.T.), and in this race, speed and handling are very important.

I just got the first 3 red balloons so I got 10 rockets and just kept shooting him until I was in front.
