This type of problem involving the Distance = Rate X Time formula is usually a difficult concept for students. This video is the 11th out of 12 in the solving word problems series. The other three series are "Solving Equations", "Factoring" and "Graphing".

  • what if you don't know the rate but are given time and distance. For example, what if a boat travels 36 miles downstream in 3 hours and returns upstream in 6 hours. What is the rate of the stream? Please email me the proper formula as I have a final tomorrow!
