Obama and Clinton have voted to subsidize liquid coal manufacturing without the requirement they sequester the carbon first. I am asking Obama specifically to justify his vote.

  • "Ultra clean" liquid coal is a moronic OXYMORON! Our politicians are being well taken care of by coal industry lobbyists to railroad legislation through.

America should be the pacesetter in development of clean renewable energy.

Use that $100,000,000 to subsidise solar systems for homeowners. That would lower polution and diversify the grid making it more robust.

  • Couldn't agree more. Renewables are without question the way to go. Even if coal is "clean" burning through sequestration, mountain top removal is still the most horrible method of getting fuel.

I merely wanted to point out that Obama doesn't care about the environment. All his plans only involve the auto industry. Even though that only counts for 45% of our air pollution. It's obvious he only cares about energy independence and is playing it off like he's working for the environment.

  • You know Obama will push the global warming

Hoax, G.E. HELPED HIM GET IN THE WHITE

HOUSE SO NOW HE WILL GIVE G.E. HELP

    BY PUSHING THE WIND TECH.

  • we need coal to liquid plants if we dont we will have huge inflation problems

  • these green people drive me crazy!!! so u rather save the planet then save the people who are losing their home because gas prices made them close their trucking business, and some people cant affort food cause the price is up!!!

  • i cant agree bout the strip mining thing cuz my dad is a coal miner and ill tell ya its a hard life but if you live in est virginia like me its all u can do for good money

  • yeah watch what happens when gas gets up to ten bucks a gallon, you people will be begging for cheaper CTL gas. and btw, it burns much cleaner than the gas you currently buy and burn daily.

the lesser of evils, yes, but at least it's a viable solution to peak oil unlike hydrogen. hydrogen is a red herring, and i find it funny that before bush sang it's praises neocons would shit on it as a liberal fantasy, now they parrot it as a magic solution when there's no way it can replace hydrocarbons.

  • That depends.

    I'd prefer coal-to-liquids over biodiesel.

Frankly, even coal electric would be better than most present options.
