Testudo was a formation utilized commonly by the Roman legions during battles in ancient Roman warfare. But more importantly, it is the beloved mascot of The University of Maryland Terrapins. The sculpture of Testudo that appears in this short is found outside the doors of the main library on The University of Maryland's campus in College Park. For good luck passerbyers are known to touch the nose of this icon, which embodies the spirit of UMD's diverse student body.

When we were asked to create a short piece that illustrates some aspects of Japanese culture for a showcase, you can see here that we decided to have a good old Pokemon-battle...

We had fun making it, so we hope that you enjoy it too!

  • HAHA!!! That was great! I go to UMBC, and I recognized the campus immediatly! What class did you have to do that for?

  • We did it for an open house at the language house~ it was not really a class, but really felt like classwork anyway ;)

  • Ooooh when's the next episode??

  • wooooooow

  • It was an assignment for a language immersion program's showcase. All performances must be done in the target language. Our target language was Japanese and this was the video part of our dating game show. The other part was done live on stage at the show case and of course in Japanese. and it's Japanese* not japenese.. 2 a's and 2 e's and the word is capitalised because it's a proper name.

  • This was made by the Japanese cluster, part of the Language House; a language immersion program. Everyone playing a character in this video speaks Japanese. REAL Japanese. If you hear ANY words that sound English, like attack or defense; it's actually atakku and difensu; based on the Japanese pronunciation of the English words. Do you have ANY credentials to say they aren't? Do you even have ANY knowledge of the Japanese language at all outside the otaku bullshit anime kids try to speak?

  • true...the chicken strips are always just mostly breading burnt to a crisp.

  • The cheese steaks are actually one of my favorite items at the grill. The fried chicken is terrible, though.

  • that new head chef was implemented recently...hopefully the food gets better.

Just yesterday I saw them using actual rib-eye for the philly cheese steak instead of that

frozen ground-up mystery meat they usually use.

  • Yea.

  • probably like this" hm.... yes they r weirdo, in another word: They ARE TOO OLD FOR THIS!!!

  • lol purely coincidental XD
