Another slightly unusual take on a Jonathan Coulton song. It's probably a bit in-your-face obvious, but it amuses me and makes for a fun technical exercise. I am indebted to Michael Pletnev's amazing piano transcription of the Nutcracker Suite for some musical ideas, especially the funky finger legato in the left hand. Never would have dreamed that up myself, being a lazy pedal pusher.

The chorus spends most of its time in 5/4 because it's, well, creepier. Honestly? Well, actually I found myself going down the keyboard towards the target bass note and I kept reaching it a beat early. As good an excuse as any, I suppose.

  • where did you get the sheet music for this??? I cant find it on the link you gave

  • @crazymonkey122100: Sorry, there isn't any sheet music yet! I did the arrangement in my head, and have been meaning to write it down for ages, but haven't gotten around to it yet. When I finally do it, I promise to let you know.

  • lol the rapid movement of your hands reminds me of that hand called Thing from the Adam's Family.

Only this time he has a brother helping him play the piano. XD

I like how the music came out.

  • @DJ52629M: Thanks for that mental imag; I'll never look at my hands the same way again ;-)

  • the movement of your hands is more creepy then the music

  • @spitice14 LOL, I'll take that as a compliment ;-)

  • On another note, just something I noticed listening a second time. the opening 7 seconds are the same chord progression as Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy. Just some food for thought :P

  • Fantastically done! I am thoroughly impressed and inspired to learn this piece for my Ghost Tours :P This song would sound so amazing on the haunted piano at the Museum of the Paranormal :3 Again great job man. From one pianist to another :)
