@saintjst7 You do lose a lot from it being dumbed dwon, I just don't think it's as bad as people think it is. I didn't like it at firt because of reviews but after acouple of games, it wasn't sooo bad.

The did not remove the spell list for wizards. They now are divided into Powers and Rituals, the result is nice IMO.

I AGREE

Really? I've played a little 3E, and the two encounters I played each lasted about 2 hours.

Lies. 3.5 characters were a lot more interesting to play than 4ed characters. 4ed at-wills are pretty boring, and that's all they do after they burn their one encounter power per combat.
Combats are also twice as long in 4ed, which contributes to the excessive boredom of low level play.

i have been a player of DnD since i was 6..im 29 now, rules have come and gone but its the experience of making a world and having your friends interact with it that makes this the best format for fantasy..paper and dice gaming can give you the best fantasy game ever..period. DnD, rifts, whitewolf, take your pick and play. Video game fantasy is fun..i almost failed college because of diablo and i do play mmos but if i had time and all my friends could i think we would still be playing DnD.

I'm trying to be positive about the changes that have been introduced, but i can't. Some of the changes are nice, like the adjusment to the skills system and races, but over all I feel you are loosing a large amount of choice when it comes to making your character. This game is vastly dumbing down already simple rules in an attempt to snag a new market. Oh well.
