MPE 65mm on Canon 550d - Ant HD 1080p

MPE 65mm with canon 550d - stupidiest idea ever! rented this lens just to play with it the insane shallow depth of field plus no IS meant you need ninja sniper hands to keep it still - this turned out better than expected though

i had no tripod no extra lighting NOTHING the proffesionals use just a weekend fuck about with a lens way way outta my leauge and a camera that could by no means deal with it!

thought id stick it on youtube incase anyone else wanted a try. the result isnt an epic fail to be honest and even if you dont get any decent pics with it if you have the cash to hire it for a few days its good just to see the detail of the hidden insect world! lucky for me it was a warm day that ended with a bit of rain - found the ants hiding under a small ground plant but there was enough light to still capture something :)

hehe very true :p i only had a small gorillio pod which wasnt strong enough to hold the camera and lens up - so i twisted it round and held the camera like a rifle! it was actually pretty effective without that little added stability no chance would i have managed this as i was fully zoomed in! the RAW video file is actually sarker i had to brighten it up - i did get some decent stills of the ants though :p this was only for fun!

holy hell. That thing would be almost impossible to use without a decent tripod and careful focusing. It'd be better taking pictures with it though because at least you can increase the F number (provided you have good lighting, of course)
