  • Both Solti and Toscanini were top conductors. The recording fidelity here is a little "dry" but you can hear how Toscanini extracted the best from his players. I'm a Solti-fan. I think he was right up with Toscanini, even better in some ways. We are so lucky to have had them both. In addition, while Wagner was a scoundrel, in many ways, what a GREAT piece of music this overture is.
