I have been experimenting with an archaic printing technology called a hectograph or jelly duplicator. I have really enjoyed the process. In this video, I'm using spirit masters from a tattoo supply store. This is my first time using hectographic paper so there were some surprises for me. The video shows the printing process and results.

  • H.P. Lovecraft used this method to print a limited run publication titled "The Scientific Gazette" in 1899 at just 9 years of age. I wonder just how many hectographic copies can be produced from one gelatin negative before they become too faint. Thank you very much for showing the process from beginning to end! I've also read that many kinds of inks and even other pigments and hectographic pencils can be used instead of spirit masters, although those do seem to be the preferred way to go.

  • My self and a group of friends printed our Weekly Rag using a hectograph pad bought from a stationary in Nanaimo, BC back around 1967.

  • Oh my gosh, thank you sooooooooooooo much
