The Docking Institute: Labor Availability Studies

The Docking Institute of Public Affairs at Fort Hays State University provides labor availability studies for local and regional economic developers and chambers of commerce trying to encourage large businesses to locate or relocate to their communities. A key requirement for locating a business is the size and nature of the available labor pool. Based on government data alone, firms considering relocation or expansion often conclude incorrectly that there is not sufficient qualified labor in the area to meet their needs.
