we bought a wooden dowel (about .5-1 inches) and another one that was about 1/4 in. we took the first one and cut four circles that were about 1/3 in long and drilled 1/4 in. holes into the sides of them. then we cut four pieces of the 1/4 in. dowel that were about an inch long and stuck them into the holes on the other circles and used a little hot glue to keep em in there. this is a very makeshift way of doing this and would not suggest it if you want to make a playable ukulele.
