I could never figure out who was playing Emmett, had to read it on the internet. But I always knew it was a chick, from the first time I saw Emmett.

Its odd that Debra Winger took the role as Emmitt.

I really never understood why and the only explanation I ever could come up with is that Emmitt had to be an odd unreadable person.

I always suspected it was a woman who played Emmett but could never place the actress. But I did yesterday! Having recently watched Shadowlands with Debra Winger and Anthony Hopkins, I recognized her face. I have confirmed my guess just now on this site. She was wonderful in this role, really believable, great tic!

I think it was to reflect the androgynous nature of angels which is what I took Emmert to be.
