Unfortunately most DNA tests are not designed for purebred dogs. Wisdom Panel even has a separate test for purebred dogs because the even state that there will be inaccuracies when testing purebred dogs for mixed breed heritage. Frankly, aside from the border collie which may have come up because of an error (did you fast Savvy?), what you received seems about as accurate as you could expect (Bostons have pit bull type dogs in their heritage and pit bull type dogs have bulldog in their heritage)

@kasjamm I guess you missed the bit in the video where she said he was AKC CH American Staffordshire Terrier.

What kind of Dog bed is that?

That's funny...I don't know where they got border collie from, but Boston Terriers are related to Pit Bulldog breeds, way way back in the day. Gorgeous dog, who cares what that test says!

He is the most beautiful dog I've ever seen. Lucky you!

LOL! Hey think of it this way! You shouldn't have ANY problem renting a home! If the landlord says no pit bulls ect, you can just show them his DNA results "Aren't Border Collies allowed?" LOL! Hope to see a video of his herding abilities hehe

This comment has received too many negative votes show

Tell that to the UKC and the AKC since Savvy is dual registered as an American Pit Bull Terrier with the UKC and an American Staffordshire Terrier with the AKC :)

Stymie is right, they are not the same breed and they are not even choices on the test. She can't expect them to give her a breed result that isn't on the test. Boston Terrier has some of the same breeds in its history as the Am Staff so it being on the list shouldn't be surprising. I agree that the kind of test she is doing isn't very accurate but going to the vet to have a dog DNA'd with it's mom's DNA to compare to figure out breed is not done in the same manner.

Actually, comparing whether two individuals are related is a much easier process than trying to determine breed. All you do is run the DNA and, essentially, look for similarities in "bands/markers" and, depending on the nature/number/type of similarities, you can determine if the individuals are related. That's much more established science than trying to determine breed. Again, it doesn't matter if Pit Bull or AST is on their list. It should not come back something it isn't, period.
