This plane is absolutely beautiful in my opinion. While the 747-8i has not seen the success that the 747-8F has seen, I believe that the 747 will be around for a long time to come in the future even if only as a freighter in the years to come. I think the demand for very large passenger jets like the 747 and a380 is limited and that is why the numbers are so low for both relatively speaking.

a380 will be the king of the skies

FUCK THE POLICE

@prohelipilot1 Furthermore, I think the world's airlines would have taken all your other points into account before placing their orders. Clearly, the A380 offers greater economic value to those airlines despite it being more expensive to buy and maintain etc. The simple fact that sales stand at 234 for the A380 to 33 for the passenger version of the 747-8 is testament to the preference for the Airbus product, no mean feat considering Boeing's expertise & experience over the past 40 or so years.

@prohelipilot1 Your data is incorrect. Various reports from "Leeham News & Comment", "Aviation Weekly" and "Airliners net" Tech forum say otherwise. Boeing's claims of being cheaper are out (by Boeing's own admission) Lufthansa are on record as saying the A380 will consume less fuel/passenger km than the 747-8I. Considering they plan to operate both, I'll take their word over that of Boeing's or Airbus's sales reps. Emirates have also agreed the A380 is cheaper given actual pax numbers for both

@44rears The 747-8 will move passengers 12 % cheaper than the A380, it will also be able to carry cargo when full of passengers and that will put it about 14-16% cheaper. Add the fact that you do not need to modify or replace airport equipment to handle it and it comes out way on top. Then the A380 is sealing it;s own fate with flaws and breakdowns at a record pace. Emirates Airlines says the work ethic at Airbus is shoddy
-
@h0bbe55 You do not need to worry about the A380, all the design flaws and shortcuts taken by Airbus have pretty much sealed that planes fate. Not to mention it is not efficient like they said it would be and it is grossly over its empty weight
-
why not extend the upper deck to the whole fuselage and give the A380 a run for its money?
-
40 years later, you still can't beat the curves of this beautiful and graceful machine. The A380 on the other hand looks like a bloated Beluga Whale with wings.
