First came by this in the 60s and 70s , great to discover this as its such a lon lived song still heard around the folk clubs today . has such a ring of truth. David thanks for the song , I might even have to get my old guitar out and give this a go. Ear plugs at the ready,!!!
Thanks again

@marakakore David - yes I'm sure you're right - but it's the sign of an exceptional song when it can capture a moment in time for so many people. However I can understand that you could be irritated when everyone latches on to one song out of so many(like Ralph McTell with 'Streets of London'?)
One of the problems has been that I could never find any recordings of your songs - at least now I can listen to some of them on YouTube.
Regards
John

This wonderful song - well, the original version, has haunted me since I heard Jacquie & Bridie sing it at the Ipswich YMCA folk club in the early 70s. I do like this updated version, but would still love to hear 'my' version again

Kia Ora from New Zealand. Thank you for reminding me of this beautiful song. Do you remember 6 Dellow House? I recorded your demo in the living room.....

@gregsonswell John,,,it continues to surprise me,,,the way this song continues to be of interest to some...
especially in Britain. I have written hundreds and hundreds of songs since I wrote this one. I think what pertained in a person's life when they heard a song...sometimes seems to be a factor in their attachment to a given song...or a song representing an era in their lives in some way. Who knows?...it's to the good anyway. Thanks and Peace. David.

I am clearly missing something .. ? David Campbell ... ? Marakakore .. ? Yes I remember the "slightly different chorus" also ... Great song.
I fell in love with an Irish-named lady on Conway Street in Birkenhead in circa 1972, who played a fantastic hammer guitar version of this song.

Thanks for your comment!. It's good to know this song lives
on so long after I wrote and sang it in Britain. Peace.

Great to see this David. I regularly see Chris Swann form the Pennines. He still has the portrait he painted of you on his wall.
Slightly Faded is still sung out by a number of singers in the Manchester area and is a much loved song.
I'll tell Chris about this when I see him.

Thanks for this encouraging reminder of my time singing in
Britain. Good to hear this song has been kept alive there.
Best wishes to you...and say a hello to Chris for me. Peace.
