Interview with Chris Carlsson author of "Nowtopia: How Pirate Programmers, Outlaw Bicyclists, and Vacant-Lot Gardeners Are Inventing the Future Today!" recorded June 22, 2008 on Mind Over Matters KEXP 90.3 FM Seattle.
Great stuff, Chris! Liked the explanation of the DIY / community bike shops. Just came back from a trip to LA, setting up bike shops with the Mundo cargo bike. Found it interesting that the bike shop that had the most positivity and community was the one across the street from the Bicycle Kitchen in "the Bicycle District". So the community bike shop has the effect of drawing in the bike community and supporting the for-profit shop. The shop reciprocates by volunteering staff time and expertise.
This is a great interview.
