Wilson of the War Crimes Commission is seeking Franz Kindler, mastermind of the Holocaust, who has effectively erased his identity. Wilson releases Kindler's former comrade Meinike and follows him to Harper, Connecticut, where he is killed before he can identify Kindler. Now Wilson's only clue is Kindler's fascination with antique clocks; but though Kindler seems secure in his new identity, he feels his past closing in. Video from Archive.org.

  • Brilliant stuff, thanks for posting. Welles's death was pretty gruesome for a film made in 1946, makes the idiots who make these present day shock-flicks look a bit silly.

  • Thanks for posting this film. I noticed the ending is shortened. The original ends with Wilson telling Mary, "Pleasant dreams".

  • if it weren't for movies like this, i might actually get some work done...lol

  • Sexist? Orson let Loretta Young take pot-shots at him, but alas she missed him. I guess he's saying that women can't shoot straight!

  • bravo

  • yeah ending did look shortened. Still think Welles is sexist.

  • This Nazi Thug was running out of time fast, He could kill Mary and make it look like an accident but with Noah's death it could tie the pieces together plus with Mary telling the truth about the little Man who was at the House.

  • Why does Kindler care so much about Noah? Kindler doesn't give a darn who he kills - Mary, millions of war victims, whatever. But suddenly, he is frantically upset over the thought that Noah might have died accidentally? Why?
