Ireland defeated the fascist Lisbon Treaty for Sweden, not the Swedish government. This fascist treaty was already ratified without referendum in the majority of the EU countries, and without any public media debate. But on behalf on mankind, the Irish defeated the british-created evil Lisbon-Doctrine overwhelmingly well today. Now we own thanks to the Irish people for having saved us from dictatorship in Europe!

German Supreme Court Issues Sophist "Yes-No" Ruling on Lisbon Treaty

July 1, 2009 (LPAC)—This morning, the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany published its 150-page ruling on the Lisbon Treaty, giving the treaty its approval, but doing so on numerous conditions, some of which pose the question why the court did not throw out the treaty altogether.

For example, the court ruled that the treaty as such was in compliance with the German constitution, but the German Parliament's approval of it was not, because the Parliament would have had to strengthen the powers of both chambers (the Bundestag and Bundesrat), which it did not do. This has to be improved, the court tells the Parliament, and until that is done, the treaty cannot be signed by the German President. The Parliament plans to work out a new resolution to be debated in three special sessions Aug. 26 and Sept. 8, and voted on Sept. 8, so that the Bundesrat, representing the states, can debate and vote on it on Sept. 18—which is nine days before the end of this legislative term, the day of the national elections on Sept. 27.

All of this leaves room for new legal moves against the treaty, since plaintiffs can take whatever resolution the parliament intends to pass, and take them to court again.

The Presidents of Poland and Czechia have reiterated that their final signature under their nations' approval of the treaty depends on the result of the second referendum of the Irish on Oct. 2. And Czech President Vaclav Klaus added that, whatever happens in the coming weeks, he will definitely be the "last of all heads of state in the EU to sign that treaty," giving no hint when that time would arrive. Klaus is a staunch adversary of the treaty.

The Court's ruling in Germany is seen by many observers as voicing sympathy for many of the plaintiffs' arguments in this case. But the fact remains that it is a piece of sophistry, because the only meaningful ruling by judges with some courage and principles, would have been against the Treaty, on grounds that it was rejected by Ireland more than a year ago and is therefore invalid because all 27 member-states of the EU have to approve and ratify it.

An internet opinion poll by the Die Welt news daily this morning indicated that 64% of Germans polled are against the treaty, and only 9% in favor of it.

  • The next referendum for Ireland is scheduled to take place in the last weekend of October 2009. What shall we do with the fascist Lisbon Treaty?

  • ' The well-educated and affluent, especially those who could answer general knowledge questions about the EU (how many countries are in it, whether Switzerland is a member, that sort of thing) were much more likely to vote yes'

  • Did you consider it general knowledge that the financial system were going to collapse? Did you go out and warn people against it like LaRouche did the last 30 years? I think the people that are literate read LaRouche. And bankers suckers have no place in a moral universe - which we both happen to inhabit.

  • It's a pity we didn't have a referendum in Germany. I think the political elite would've been pissed off by the result. Unfortunately, our consitution doesn't allow nationwide referendums.

Thank God there are countries with sensible people in the EU like Ireland, Britain or Denmark who also get to decide...

The fight isn't over. They'll try again...

  • You are wrong - Germany has a fine constitution that protects its people. If someone wants to change the constitution in Germany, a referendum is constitutional like in Ireland - It was just ignored.... That's when the population should have showed their interest and come with us on the streets in the tuesday demos. The Lissabon Treaty has now been postponed untill 2010.

  • Gerrydisthename are you for real? What about the scaremongering lies on the No side in realtion to abortion, conscription, minimum wage and even the re-introduction of the death penalty. The Irish people say they were being lied to by the No camp and voted massively in favour of the Treaty. The rest of the commentators should respect the right of the Irish people to change their mind on the Lisbon Treaty. That's democracy. Live with it!
