Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Julia Child, celebrities, famous chef, actors, musicians, sports figures, politicians... or someone closer to your heart like your father, mother, brother, sister, teacher ... who is your idol and why? Please share your view with comments or BETTER YET, A VIDEO RESPOND. Who you idol is interesting, but I find the reason WHY you idolize someone is more note worthy.

Who is your idol and why? Many of us can list a number of people that we admire. People tend to idolize others; just look at how hot the show American Idol is, and similar Idol show is popular all over the world.
Who or what we idol is interesting, but to answer WHY is even more interesting to me. Just take one person, like Oprah Winfrey, with millions of people around the world idolizing her; but I'm sure there is a vast difference in reasons as to why she is considered an idol.
So who is your idol and why? Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, celebrities, politicians... your father mother brother sister teacher ... who is your idol and why?

Politically, Ronald Regan and Harry Truman. Actors Lee Marvin (Paint your Wagon, Dirty Dozen) Kirk Douglas (Spartacus, Harms Way) Actresses Michelle Yeoh (Memoirs of a Geisha) Sophia Loren (Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow). I also like Burt Lancaster (Sweet Smell of Success, From Here to Eternity). I like strong dramatic persons, who play their part well in life. Happy New year Mickey. As a young child til about 18/19 it was Bruce Lee. Not only was he a superb fighter, he was just cool. later it was Ace & Paul of KISS. Those guys are the reason I do my guitar show today on youtube, lol.

I have no Idol. I believe in a Power Greater than myself (some, including me call it Jesus), but there is no human I look up to. If I cannot make do with myself, then I need to learn how, or just chuck it ALL in God's lap.

My husband would say Audrey Hepburn is the most beautiful actress ever. I love her for her fashion sense, love those hats she wore sometimes. Goes to show people can admire the same person for totally different reasons.

I would have to agree with Hanesman100 - I don't really have an idol, but I do admire certain people for certain qualities. Such as Audrey Hepburn for all of her humanitarian work or my Chinese grandmother for all of her cooking skills and skill at raising a great family :)
