General Tariq Majid, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) Thursday visited Pakistan Ordinance Factories (POF), Wah. On arrival, the CJCSC was received by Lieutenant General Shujaat Zamir Dar, Chairman POF Board and Lieutenant General (Retired) Israr Ahmed Ghumman, Secretary, Ministry of Defence Production. General Tariq was given a comprehensive briefing by Chairman POF Board on performance and growth of POF, export and commercial sales profile, research and development projects, constraints and limitations, future vision and strategy for implementation. Chairman JCSC had a detailed visit of the manufacturing facilities and carried out test firing of newly developed 9 mm pistol. While addressing the management and staff, he said that POF is the premier defence industry of Pakistan making invaluable contributions to sustain combat worthiness of Pakistan Armed Forces. Appreciating the vision outlined by Chairman POF Board envisaging, interalia, joint ventures and public private partnership, the CJCSC emphasized the need for technological upgradation, viewed critical for growth in the prevailing competitive international environment. He stressed upon the need for enhancement of export potential by devising a smart marketing mechanism so as to transform POF into a cost effective and self sustained industrial unit.
