  • I have had 2 Airedales. The old one passed away on Christmas Day at 15 years old. RIP Buster. Jake is 5 years old and Buster's younger cousin.

  • Great video. My Airedale is the best thing since sliced bread!

  • @bobspheasant im willing to bet your right, they are my parents dogs but maybe it is just the way they are raised, i didn't spend a whole lot of time training them, so you get what ya give.

  • @477DantheMan

I think yours are the exception. All Airedales I have seen, and I have seen many, are very smart.

  • i like this breed of dog but i have two of them and let me tell ya, they are retarded. not sayer the whole breed is, but mine are ridiculously dumb.

  • @jimquantic Bob is my first dog. My wife helped with the obedience training. We had to issues from the beginning with hard mouth. However, if a bird is very energetic, flapping etc. in his mouth, he will clamp down harder with his mouth. I do have some problems with Bob getting burrs in his leg fur on occasion. As the season moves on, his furnishings (leg fur) will wear down. By the end of hunting season, he has little left.

  • @bobspheasant It is obvious you know what you are doing, great to see this great breed working with a good handler and good friend I'm sure. Tell me two things though: one, is it tough to teach "soft mouth" to this breed? and two, is there any particular problem with the coat type and the thorns you bump in to? I work a dog in desert scrub, so the thorns can be serious, I use "rough wear" boots and they are great, but still, it is tough on any dog coat.

  • Many thanks for a great video! I was especially impressed by Bob's choosing the right dumbbell. My Airedale Clyde could never hunt--he came from a rescue group two years ago and is terrified of loud noises--but he's a great dog--as is Bob. Good luck!

  • @TheMuenzer Bob lives in our house with us and sleeps in his bed on the floor of the bedroom. Our other young Airedale sleeps in another bedroom. They are pets first and then hunters and competition obedience dogs.

  • @rainmaker1213

We will be hunting pheasants for sure. Other upland birds are possible, I will have to see where her strengths are as she develops.
