Nak Tarhu is an instrument created by Australian luthier Peter Biffin. It is based on the Cretan Lyra but it has 5 playing strings instead of 3 and it has 12 long sympathetic strings.

  • That's incredible!

Sympathetic strings don't normally reproduce well on YouTube, but they're really singing on your instrument.

  • @AhleKashanam kementse...the Pontian Greeks use an ancient Greek lyra, the Persians call it kemence...

  • Fantastic.

I noticed he holds it between his legs, and not on the knee as with most kamancha players, is this to help support the long neck?
