What LIKELY happened is that the producers didnt feel like they had enough footage of JUST the locker (if youlll notice the only other time they show the unit from that angle is when the guy opening the unit door is in the shot). So being concerned that the viewer didnt get a good enough look at whats in there before they see the cast bid, they likely resetup how the unit was arranged AFTER whoever bought, it dug through it all. Doesnt seem like that big of a crime or mean that its 'fake'.
