Big Island Sustainability Field Trip Day 7-HECO and UH Hilo

Created on September 24, 2010 this sequence is a sample of video of a very informative session at the Lilikoi Cafe in Kamuela with Steve Burns, Senior Engineer of HECO concerning Big Island power and issues surrounding the jump to a totally sustainable model.

Then it was on to meet with Tom Dewitt , the Sustainability Vice Chairman at UH Hilo for informative look at the needs for coordination among sustainability minded groups throughout the Island and the example UH is setting for green initiatives.

The day ended with a geothermal theme. Visits to the Puna geothermal plant and a walk on the warm side of Kalapana as the sunset and moonrise took place wrapped up the days activities.
