Live Bait bass fishing in Central Florida can be a blast. Clients from all around the world come to Florida for bass fishing for one good reason, the State of Florida offers the best bass fishing action in the world and we can catch them all year long.

On this day Bob was bass fishing with me on Lake Jackson using live wild shiners and he was catching a bunch of Florida Largemouth Bass. We were hooking the wild shiners thru the lower lip and out the nostril and pitching them freelined to the edges of the lily pads.

Bass seemed to be stacked on the edges and would hammer the shiners, and they hammered them all morning long out here. We had 4 dozen shiners in the live well to start the day out, hitting our first spot at 7:30 am and by 8:30 we had burned thru all the shiners, boating almost 40 bass in just an hour! From there we tossed around some soft plastics and spinner baits as well as the steel shad and boated about 10 more bass before calling it a day around 11:00.

Lake Jackson has been a great lake to fish, live bait for a stretch had been the hot ticket to catch great numbers, and catch them fast, but in the end, catching them on the artificial baits made the day complete.

Lily pads are coming back very nicely since the state sprayed to knock them back, and the bass are once again starting to relate to the pads for cover. This will make it easier for everyone to target the bass and catch not only good numbers but some good size as well out here. Fishing pressure is low out here as many anglers don't like driving down the dirt road, but all that means is there is more bass for those of us who do go there.

Waters have come up some with the recent rains we had, but most of the best action is coming in the 1 to 3 foot water depth with scattered grasses with lily pads mixed in.
