Please leave the annotations on while watching this entire video. I've added a few important points that I forgot to mention while I was recording the video.

Also, please watch all of my PS3 related videos BEFORE starting this process (including my "PS3 Re-assembly Announcement, Update And Tips" video) so that you are familiar with what you're doing in advance.

First and foremost. I take no responsibility for any damage done if you attempt this process. This is a simple "how to" for anyone who wants to attempt to fix their PS3 their self instead of paying Sony $150.

Having said that, I've had a lot of people ask for a video of doing a reflow on a PS3 after getting the YLOD (Yellow Light of Death) so I decided to make a video of the process.

If you are not sure of your own ability's then do not attempt this. Just pay someone to do it for you or spend the money and send it into Sony.

I've had a few different people ask about donations. Donations are not necessary and they're not even expected, but they are appreciated.

If I've helped you fix your PS3 and you would like to donate you can do so here.

Thank you in advance if you do decide to donate. Even if it's a dollar it's very appreciated.

  • just let your fucking console cool down and stop playing it so much

  • @mtvblade787 That's not the reason why these consoles break.

I sometimes go weeks without even turning my PS3 on. And when I do have it on, it's usually only for an hour or two at a time.

I really don't game much on my PS3.

  • @rudyalbert27 I don't mean to sound rude, but it's probably because you can't read directions.

  • REBALL.

  • just fixed my 40gb ps3 with this - thanks very much!

if your model's like mine (H), you'll want to pull off the power supply before disconnecting the blu-ray ribbon and wlan transmitter, and you don't have to pull off the back cover to get the motherboard out (you have to apply some gentle upward pressure once the screws are all out though, to unstick it from the old thermal paste).

  • I used this video to fix my 40gb PS3. Works perfectly now. Thanks.

  • Don´t worry dudes, you don´t own the hardware, you paid for a license to use it. Take it back to the store and they will replace it free of charge. Corporations are smart, aren´t they? :-P

  • Can anyone tell me the max capacity HDD and RPM for a hard drive upgrade?
